Our old kitchen had no place for a dishwasher…
Plus, no decent place for a microwave–or the ugly recycling bins!
These are some big issues. Especially when you’re on a shoestring budget. So what do you do? You have think outside the kitchen.
This closet in the adjacent hallway was the perfect spot to solve some of our problems.
Cleaning out the closet and adding additional shelving was easy. The closet already had a light, but we had an electrician install an outlet.
Then we were ready to fill it up…
A full-size microwave fits perfectly. The height is right for easy access and best of all it’s not hogging space in the tiny kitchen.
$25 worth of baskets keeps the pantry tidy.
There was even room for two BIG recycle bins–and lots of extras.
This simple solution solved a few major problems in the kitchen. We got a place for the microwave, recycling and lots of food.
Now, I just need to find a spot for the dishwasher…and make some other kitchen upgrades to help our 1930s kitchen work for 2015. Come back for the epic solutions!
